Google Home and Amazon Echo are basically smart home based assistant speaker systems that listens to your commands and gives you related feedback. Amazon’s Echo was the first to come up with this idea from the UK and then Google brought out their idea later. The two devices may have similar functionalities but it is still hard to choose the best out of the purpose you need it for. With these two devices you can ask any questions, play any music, get news reports, get weather updates, command them to perform tasks like switch on/off the lights plus many more. Below is how they differentiate from each other.
In terms of Price the Amazon Echo costs $179.99 and the Google Home goes for $129, but are they really worth it? However, Amazon has similar products such as the Echo Dot and Amazon Tap for your smart home which goes for $49.99 and $129.99 respectively from Amazon that do anything the Echo does only that you’ll need a Bluetooth connection.

When it Comes to Design the Amazon Echo comes in either black or white with a cylindrical shape measuring 9.25 inches tall. It also includes a seven piece microphone pattern and at its top is a circular nob with light used to adjust volume. The Google home looks like a wine glass or candle like due to its fabric shell casing. The device is much shorter than the Echo as it is 5.62 inches tall and comes with various colors on board. It has only one physical button used for switching the microphone. More-so the gadget has a capacitive touch display which is incorporated with around 4 LEDs used to enhance visual feedback.
Both of these devices use different voice assistant which can take different commands. They include the Google assistant and the Amazon Alexa. This goes without saying that the Google Home uses Google Assistant while the Amazon Echo goes with the Alexa. For Google assistant, you are prompted to ask it specific or generic questions based on facts but coming to the Amazon Echo you can only give it simple commands that are very basic and not conversation. This assistant(Alexa) will basically play music, weather update, control other devices, deliver news and other more. Google assistant will provide all this information but will also do more research from other resources such as search engines. This assistant gives information as it does on Android phones.

As Google home seems to pick the battle here, the Amazon Echo will have to up their game on this since it has less functionality which is what most users want. More-so the Google Home comes with more colors compared to the Echo at a lesser price. If you are after better sound quality and less functionality but more apps integrations the Amazon echo would be a good pick, otherwise for those who like the customizable capability then Google Home is the best choice for your smart home.
