Bluetooth 5 version was finally released with Samsung taking the lead to have it in sight. Bluetooth is one of the oldest technology when it comes to mobile computing history. The technology is used to transfer information or data between two close devices. It is evident that this tech is still very vibrant from previous versions that have been released. The previous model which is the Bluetooth 4.2 has been quite in the game for around 3 years since it was released in 2014.
Compared to the standard Bluetooth 4.0 the Bluetooth 5.0 has high end specs of which users will experience, like a connectivity range of 4 times higher( quadrupled depth range) and 8 times broadcasting capacity for their messages and moreso, the speed is top notch at two times faster than the previous build. However, one of the things that will not change is the consumption of power even if the main specs have increased the power consumption is the same which is better than if the consumption power was more.
The Bluetooth 5 has also better interfering bands cancellation from other gadgets that are IoT(Internet of Things) enabled. It detects and prevents all neighboring bands that are LTE and all 2.4GHz bands. When it comes to pairing of devices, there is a change too in that devices will be able to pair more faster and also if one is using Bluetooth speakers there will be no delay in sound transfer. One would also quickly pair more than one device using this version which is a hastle in previous versions.
One new feature that has been introduced in this technology is that with this version it improves location and navigation functionality. This means that there is increased navigation in indoor areas. This results to many devices communicating and revealing more information even when they are not actually paired. This is due to the increased broadcast messaging capability of this version.
Bluetooth 5 was released in December 2016 and is already available in various smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11. We also a wait as Apple releases the iPhone 8 in the second half of this year that they may ship it with Bluetooth 5 as well. All existing phones or speakers and other devices may work with the Bluetooth 5 but they will have limited features from what this version is capable of handling. Due to this reason, in order to enjoy all specs in the new Bluetooth 5 version one will need to have the Bluetooth 5 developer kit which includes all extensive gear.
