Oneplus 5 is the new flagship killer in the market which was officially launched Yesterday. Oneplus says it will begin its sales of the phone on June 22. The smartphone succeeds its predecessor the OnePlus 3T smartphone which was released late last year. After the Oneplus 3T, most people expected a naming of Oneplus 4. However there will be no OnePlus 4 for this current year, but instead the OnePlus 5. It is said the OnePlus 5 will take things up a higher level with a heavily packed spec sheet and therefore would cost a bit more higher.
All phones from OnePlus are oftenly offered with premium specs and powerful performance and moreso they are priced way lesser than their fellow competitive smartphones which are produced by big-name brands like Samsung, HTC and Apple. However, it is clear to see that it’s in no denial that the new OnePlus smartphone has a striking resemblance to the iPhone 7 Plus as most people are saying.
OnePlus 5 is one of the thinnest and smoothest flagship from the OnePlus brand and is only 7.25 mm in thickness. The phone will come in two coloration choices which are Midnight Black and a Slate Gray. In terms of size the OnePlus 5 measures a 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm dimension, and it weighs 153 g.The device maintains its aluminium body with the nice mirror finish of the OnePlus logo on the back of the phone with some blended antenna linings.
When it comes to display, OnePlus 5 has a 5.5 inches 1080P Full HD resolution display (1920 x 1080 pixels) which comes to 401ppi.This could be one downside of the smartphone as it has no 4K display compared to its competitors. The aspect ratio of the phone is 16:9 as it is on most standard displays. Of late we have seen many manufacturers changing their aspect ratio of 18:9 which is a good thing when it comes to display user experience. The OnePlus 5 includes DCI-P3 colour texture format, sRGB, and the gorgeous display has a protective 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 covered all over on the front.
The Smartphone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, and it is an octa-core which means 8 core possibly divided into pair of 4 by 4 depending on the performance. The CPU processor has a 10nm FinFET design, and it is clocked at a speed of up to 2.45Ghz. For smooth gaing performance, it comes with the Adreno 540 GPU too. On the RAM and storage side, the OnePlus 5 ships in with either the 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage ROM or the 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage. OnePlus chose to use the LPDDR4X RAM on this smartphone. Another down-side for this is that the Oneplus 5 does not include the microSD slot or external storage but the phone comes in as a dual-SIM smartphone.
On the Camera edge here is where the big focus is on as they have made tremendous change on it from its predecessor. However most people say that the Camera feature seem to be much more like the dual-camera setup which is in the iPhone 7 Plus phone, which has two cameras and an LED flash at the pinnacle left corner. That said, the company decided to come up with a dual-rear camera layout on the smartphone. The OnePlus 5 features a 16MP and a 20MP dual rear camera fusion. The 16MP which is said to be the main camera has a f/1.7 aperture size, which is capable to capture 34% more light compared to its predecessor and thus it is better in low-light scenarios. The other one is said to be the telephoto lens which has the 20MP. With this users are able to focus on a single object and preferably blur the rest or the unwanted. It has great sharp focus and offers a 2X zoom ability. More-so focusing is 40% faster than the OnePlus 3T. The Oneplus 5 has no optical image stabilization but comes with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) which makes your videos stable as you record them with up to 4K resolution. The outstanding camera has a unique feature called the Pro Mode feature whereby users are able to tune to settings such as ISO, Shutter speed, White balance and more for great quality of their photos. For those selfies, you are accompanied by a 16MP front snapper with also a selfie flash as well. It comes with an auto-HDR mode too for improved photos taken in low-light situations.
Battery & OS
OnePlus 5 houses a 3300 mAh battery which has Dash Charging support. According to OnePlus, from half an hour’s charge from the Dash Charge, you are ensured that your phone will last all day which is yet to be proven. They also added that it would last 20% more than the Oneplus 3T. The phone runs on the OxygenOS which is built on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The OxygenOS comes with additional features such as reading mode(similar to e-reader), secure mode, expanded screenshots and more.
